Hawaii Part II


What is Hawaii Part II:


Hawaii Part II is an album from Miracle Musical, which brings back former members of the band, tally hall, featuring every single one except Andrew
His director and creator of the musical, Joe Hawley, former member of tally hall until his last album with the group, on 2011 named Good & Evil, along with Bora Karaca, a real close friend to tally hall, wrote and designed the entire musical, in it you will find an exciting that somehow is related to the 9/11 but I will not cover that version that IS confirmed by one of the creators because I really don't think that all the story of the musical can rely to the 9/11.
This is one of my favourites albums at the moment, it's a musical, and I will share my perspective of the story along with a review of every song of the album:

Introduction to the show


This is the very beginning, for me, this song is the main character (also called Simon, for the demos of the album) already dead, and I like to think that the verse "You'll live forever tonight" is like a said earlier a part of the musical, you know, like the function is starting.
This is a great start for an Album, his first verse already tell me that the rest was going to be more than sentimental

Isle into Thyself


Starts with two persons, a girl looking at the stars before a date, and a guy who is worried about if he will be hurt again (Simon), asking two main questions:

"Why Would it hurt me"
"Or Was it Real? "

And then the two characters meet in what I think it is a beach, both of them are unsure if the thing is gonna work:

"What did it matter?"
"Why would it matter?"
"And could we heal?"

Then Simon, who was lying on the sand, is called by the girl,after that, they fell in love of each other and forget about all of they bad thoughts,that's why the chorus doesn't appear anymore, and even saying that they don't feel lonely anymore:

"Lonely Departing After us"
"Gone not Forgotten"
"Long, but forgotten old lore"

I think the last one says about his other failed relationships.
To finish they both ended up lying in the sand asking existential questions

"Why did fire-erupted land arrive?"
"Why did murderous animals survive?"
"Why did we deserved to be revived?"
"Why was any and everything alive?"

This song is good, but nothing compared to what is ahead, that's all I can say

Black Rainbows


This one it's weird, but here is the name of the girl, which is Stella (I'm really not sure). For me this song and "宇宙ステーションのレベル7" are from the perspective of Stella, while a voice is saying the colors of the rainbow on hawaiian language, the girl says about the joy of being with Simon, honestly, I don't know what "draw rainbows" means, so I think is playing on the sand, that could make sense because they are on a beach.
This song is not good if is not continued by 'White ball'

White Ball


Majestic Song, the song talks about a dance between Stella and Simon, where the two seem to enjoy it, and then they kiss, repeating the unreal that all of this romantic scenario is, but still something dark will happen...

"Such impossible bliss"

....nothing to say about it, it's really good

Murders


This is for me the end of the first act, why?, because this one ends up with Simon and Stella as a couple but also is one of the most complex songs on the album so this is my version and only my version of the meaning of the lyrics.
The narrator this time is not one of the characters, is in third person (probably, because something we will see soon after), it starts saying that Simon and Stella are now in the forest

"He was in the forest looking to see the trees"
"But none were there"

"He found a girl"

(this one for me means that is referring to the early songs)

"She found the Erlking(the lover)"

(this one is obvious if you know what Erlking is on mythology, is associated with death)

Now we know that the girl faced death and the guy is related to the death, but the lyrics tell us the story before that

"They were in the white wood"
"Gamboling out to picnic"
"In the light leaves broke above"
"Then fell below"

And after that verse, the narrator changes to first person from I think is Simon:

"I was in the middle ground"
"Looking to find the flowers in the garden"
"Wearying of the hate me, hate me not"
"Wait. they forgot"
"Woe, oh, the rot"

"Deeper in they crept"
"Oblivious of the bears and darker terrors"
"Or none were there"
"How did they dare"

That last verse is very confusing to me, because for one side we have the dangerous things on the forest, and on the other side we have a very confused Simon, that seems to not remember how Stella died (soon we will know how this turns)
The next verse let us know that they were deep inside the forest, at night, nothing good can we get from this, and then, the guy hears a really loud noise

"I was in the middle ground"
"Looking to find the fountain of infinite mirror"
"Tree falling, no one would hear"
"Shadow of nobody there"
"Murders of murderers living in fear of it"

This is how is narrated the scenario they are in, a desolated forest, in perfect silence, a place so quiet and dark that the murderers are scared of it, so deep in the forest that no one could ever listen.
"Owls on the night watch"
"Solemn and easily wise to what we thought"
"They thought above"
"Sound broke below"

Then following the noise, he now is in the "clearing"

"I was in the clearing"
"Buzzing around to hearing"
"But the bees and birds who knew the words"
"Soon arrived the twilight"
"Finally the night and day remembered"
"How they came to be"

But... It was too late, she's dead, and now he can longer unmake it, now he's alone, in the dark forest, with the corpse of his lover, Simon realized that all of his love for her now it doesn't matter anymore

"All for nothing at all"
"All for nothing at all"
"With something to do"

宇宙ステーションのレベル7


This one is for me the Interlude, and for you, the person who is reading this, it's also an advice that after this song I will analyze much more each verse of the left songs, but for this, we must just look at the french verse which is gonna be important to the future:

The Mind Electric


Starts backwards, but for the lore purpose, we will analyze the lyrics only

The story now follows Simon ,after he found Stella, now he is being judged by her murder, he's nervous and with spontaneous bad thoughts. Simon thinks that he will be condemned to the Electric Chair :

"Think of these thoughts as limitless light"
"Exposing closing circuitry of fright"
"Think of each moment holding this breath"
"As death minute in decimal"

The Court begins and calls Simon to declare

"Resident minor, how do you plead?"
"We'll need your testimony on the stand"
"Solemnly swear to tell the whole truth"

Simon says

"Father your honor, may I explain?"
"My brain has claimed its glory over me"
"I've a good heart albeit insane"

After the session, the sentence was an electro-shock therapy for Simon , although he was not insane at the moment.

"Condemn Him to the infirmary"

We can see the perspective of Simon of the track to the EST room

"All mine towers crumble down the flowers gasping under rubble"
"Shrieking in the hall of lull, thy genius saves a thirst for trouble"

the next fragment describes the sensation of the brain during the process

After all happens, now Simon is really insane

Labyrinth


I hate it, but it's very important to see how bad Simon's mind state is at this point.
no lyrics, just that Simon is ,like the name of the song says, trapped in the labyrinth of his mind.

Time Machine


All of this song talks about only one thing, Simon is tired and impossible to deal with, he knows it, and now decides to go away to somewhere, in a boat... but he misses everything, asking himself if he could do the things other way. he's alone now

Stranded Lullaby


We are almost done, this is the calm before the storm, this dramatic trip is approaching to an end. I will start this one with my opinion and after that analyze the lyrics. I love it, it is one of the best songs on the album, its melody and its armony before what is next is delightful
Now to the lyrics
Simon is on a boat adrift, reminding Stella, wanting to be in peace with those memories

"There's a still tension in the swell"
"Of dreamt debris afloat amidst the waves and then dispel"
"Aimless thoughts and papers blown around"
"A million moments meant remembered rest in deep dark sound"
"Game the mess"

He knows is gonna die now, although that he asks one more question

"I'd like to know why you are all alone while I'm lost at sea" "Maybe we'll be there when you want"

It's sad, because Simon really love her, but it all ended so far from a happy ending.
Now Simon says the last thing before he leaves this world, a wish for Stella to forgive him

"You're unsure if I am"

This song Concludes with Simon adrift and about to die

Dream Sweet in Sea Major


"Alone at the edge of the universe"

"promises endless apologies of paradise "

"So things are different tonight"

Simon is dying, and in his last moments of life he remember to us part of the Musical, which we see on the use of several leitmotifs and lyrics of the past songs but with the lyrics telling us something really different than before:

"It's now and never"
"A reverie endeavor"
"Awaits somnambulant directives"
"To take the helm"

A "reverie" is a word that's described like a pleasant dream or state of dreaming, Simon in his most late fate is falling in a sweet dream, the death.

"Believe me, darling"
"The stars were made for falling"
"Like melting obelisks"
"As tall as another realm"

This has multiple meanings according to the interpretation, for me is Simon remembering his moments at the beach with Stella.

"Un ensemble d'enfants"
"La galaxie s'étend"
"Jardin de l'imagination"

"Roller passé la lune"
"Comme nous evoluons"

There's not much meaning to it, except because the lyrics change to show the actual state of Simon, observing the moon as he's dying.

"She knows you heard her"
"Staging music murder"
"In line before the show began"
"To be where I am"

He is saying what's going on in these verses.

Simon is losing it and has no sense of reality at this point.

This last verse is from the perspective of Stella, she is in heaven, in the Divine Comedy, the first stage of heaven is the moon, and the moon is really mentioned throughout all the musical
And last but not least, the last verses of the entire musical, Simon is departing, dying, and he says goodbye for the last time, approaching to a light that is described as higher than the Sun

"Higher than the Sun"

"Until it's time"

I absolutely love this song, one of the best of the entire album, it's the perfect end to a piece like this, truly a perfect end song.
Truly, an unforgetable experience also see this:

if you wonder why I didn't put the Variations on a cloud and Candle on the water songs, it's because those songs add nothing to the main story of Simon and Stella.
